Freedom is an illusion. Within the prison that is our minds, we exist as fools chained in a cave, terrified of our own shadows. Reality only exists relative to our own perception: limited and false. We may choose to recoil from the echoes of the cave, or to scream when the fire sears our flesh, but, no matter what, we can never leave.
A Reflection of Myself
The Shadow of Yigg is an ongoing comic series set in a high-gothic post-apocalyptic fantasy world ravaged by a crisis called The End. It is a tale of metaphors for life framed by sorrow and mental illness. The narrative was created as a way to allow me to express my worldview, and to explore my identity, and critically analyze aspects of my personality. As such, this narrative is very personal to me, and I hope that the story can be personal to you, too.
The World
The Old Kingdom has fallen, and the world lies in ruin. The End came when the Dragons were released from their prison beneath the Yigg Tree. They consumed the souls of nearly every being in Yigg's world, turning what was left of their bodies into horrid monsters. No one knows by who or for what reason The End was caused, but now all they can do is survive.
Legend has passed among the survivors of The End, which says that there exists a paradise called Oasis, untouched by the cruelty of the Dragons, and safe from their evils. Now, those known as Travelers journey through the Dead World in search of this paradise, that they may escape the horrors of their lives.
The only lead Travelers have in their search is the lyrics to a nursery rhyme, which describes how to find Oasis. Unfortunately, a stanza from this rhyme has been lost, whether to time or to those who would keep Oasis hidden, and is now only known by a select few in the Dead World.

Book I
The Old Kingdom has fallen, and in its place has risen the Dead World: a miserable wasteland where ancient wonders sit empty, and monsters hunt for those remaining humans who are just trying to survive. Their only hope is to follow a vague nursery rhyme with a missing lyric, which is said to lead travelers to the mythical paradise of Oasis.
